From the start, Constructing Equality provided a positive, engaging and professional support service that brought pilot contractors together and drove the whole process.

As a community contractor, Durkan work at the heart of diverse communities all over London and the South East. When the CITB put us forward as potential participants in the Be Fair framework pilot we jumped at the chance. Developing an equality and diversity framework that addresses the needs and expectations of our clients, customer communities and our workforce was challenging, but highly rewarding. Durkan are delighted to be founder members of the first accredited industry-wide equality and diversity framework and cannot praise Constructing Equality enough for the hard work and commitment they have shown in getting it off the ground.

Kevin O’Connor , Client Liaison Manager,

Durkan Limited – December 2014

Constructing Equality were a huge support to us throughout the entire process..

Their passion for the framework was evident from the very beginning and without their knowledge and encouragement I would have definitely found it a lot more difficult to achieve the accreditation. In fact, we may not have continued with the process at all. Every single member of the Constructing Equality team was full of enthusiasm and always more than willing to help and offer advice. Constructing Equality undoubtedly enabled us to feel confident in the information and evidence we were submitting and supported us 100% along the way.

Lynsey Downie, Health & Safety Advisor,

Macform – November 2014

The accreditation itself was overseen by a core team who were supported by Constructing Equality.

They made sure that all aspects of the framework were incorporated into the Company’s current policies and documentation, including guidance on providing tool box talks on site and making sure that the Company’s supply chain committed to the framework before starting on a project. All Carefoot employees are now aware of equality and diversity issues with myself as Be Fair Champion making sure that the Company continues to focus on this positive CITB initiative.”

The advice, training and consultancy we provide has helped some of the most respected names in construction become better at what they do. Some prefer our partnerships to remain confidential, of course. But here is what some of our clients had to say about our practical, reasonable and business-focused solutions.

TestimonialsMichael Smyth, HR Manager,

GRAHAM Construction – October 2012

GRAHAM recognise that equality is both a vital social and business priority as we progress in the 21st Century.

“Having developed an Equality Plan in conjunction with the Equality Commission, we wanted to partner with an organisation who understood the industry, how far we were on the equality journey, and who could then help us implement our plan.

”Constructing Equality Ltd.. gave clear advice and guidance, and provided training workshops for our Managers that coupled practical learning with credibility.”

“Their experience in programme design and delivery was obvious from the outset, as were their links with industry – this proved extremely useful in identifying and recruiting a wide cross-section of female construction professionals from across the region.

“The delivery – an initial group meeting held at Whitefriars followed up by site visits to mentor and support participants – worked well. The content was relevant and well-structured, and many professional contacts were made across the Group.

“The trainee QS we placed on the programme enjoyed it immensely. In addition to the skills gathered from the training sessions, the trainee gained confidence and career focus from the continuing mentoring provided by Constructing Equality Ltd.”

Some of the delegates still remain in contact with each other as a direct result of the training delivered by Constructing Equality Ltd.

”Overall, the course exceeded our expectations and we were thrilled by the response from the delegates.”
